WATER COOLER SANITISATION

Sanitisation is essential for keeping
your water cooler clean and hygienic.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SANITISATION

Sanitisation is the cleaning, disinfecting and sterilising of your water cooler to ensure for optimal hygiene. It prevents bacterial and microbial growth and keeps the machine clean, both inside and out. Regular sanitisation is crucial so that your drinking water remains safe, pure and great-tasting. Our Sanitisation programs are WHA certified (The British Water Dispenser & Hydration Association), providing you with the highest possible standard of hygiene and cleanliness for your water cooler.

SANITISATION IS INCLUDED IN OUR WATER COOLER RENTALS
Regular sanitisation of your water cooler is included in your rental contract. Industry regulations demand that all water coolers are regularly sanitised – every 3 months for a bottled water dispenser and every 6 months for a plumbed in water cooler. Our professional sanitisation service is carried out by our fully qualified and experienced engineers.

BOTTLED WATER COOLER
SANITISATION

When we sanitise your Bottled Water Cooler, we clean the internal parts with a food-grade sanitisation fluid. We also clean the external surfaces to destroy and prevent any bacteria. Think of it as a deep clean for the inside and outside of your water machine, significantly prolonging the lifetime of your machine and making it safer for everyone to use.

SANITISATION PROCEDURE: Bottle Fed Water Coolers

Step 1. Firstly, we unplug the machine from the power supply, and we remove the water bottle.
Step 2. Next, we drain the water through the taps. If applicable, the hot tank is also drained through a drainage pipe.
Step 3. Disposable gloves are worn for the next steps to ensure for maximum hygiene and to eliminate any risks of contamination.
Step 4. The bottle fitting and the baffle are removed and cleaned. The reservoir is also cleaned with potable water and a scourer to remove any particles. The taps are removed and cleaned using a good quality bottle brush to reach those hard-to-reach areas. The tap feed is also cleaned.
Step 5. Sanitisation fluid is poured into the reservoir to clean the internal workings of the cooler. The water bottle is placed on top of the cooler to allow the tanks to fill with water and is pulled into the taps to allow the sanitisation fluid to reach all water contact areas.
Step 6. The bottle is removed, and the machine is left for 10 minutes whilst the sanitisation fluid works through the system. The sanitisation fluid used is food approved and is not harmful to humans and has little taste or smell.
Step 7. Whilst the sanitisation fluid is working through the internal system, the outside of the water cooler is cleaned to destroy any germs and bacteria that may be on the surfaces. This includes the main points of contact such as the taps, the drip tray and cup dispenser (if applicable).
Step 8. The water is drained through the taps until the reservoir is empty. The water bottle is then placed back on top of the cooler to allow the tanks to refill, and the reservoir is drained a second time. This is to ensure that all the sanitisation fluid has completely passed through the system.
Step 9. Finally, the water cooler is plugged back into the power supply and your water cooler is ready to use.

MAINS-FED WATER COOLER
SANITISATION

When we sanitise your Mains-fed Water Cooler, we clean both the internal workings which come into contact with the drinking water supply, the external surfaces, and we replace the water filter. Our sanitisation service will provide you with filtered, impurity-free, great-tasting water and it will also significantly prolong the lifetime of your machine. The sanitisation procedure takes approximately 20 minutes.

SANITISATION PROCEDURE: Mains-Fed Resevoir Water Coolers

Step 1. First, we unplug the water cooler from the power supply. Then we switch off the mains water supply shut-off valve to stop any water coming through.
Step 2. Next, the water from the tank is drained through the taps. If applicable, the hot tank is also drained through a drainage pipe.
Step 3. Disposable gloves are worn for the next steps to ensure for maximum hygiene and to eliminate any risks of contamination.
Step 4. The top of the water cooler cabinet is unscrewed to expose the reservoir for the interior cleaning process where the sanitisation fluid is poured inside. The sanitisation fluid used is food approved and is not harmful to humans and has little taste or smell.
Step 6. We disconnect the old water filter and replace it with a new water filter. Water filters are essential for eliminating any harmful chemicals and impurities sometimes found in tap water.
Step 7. Water is then flushed through the filter until the water runs clear. This is done to flush out the sanitisation fluid and any loose carbon that may be sat inside the filter.
Step 8. Lastly, the outside of the water cooler is cleaned. This includes the surfaces and points of contact such as the taps, the drip tray and cup dispenser (if applicable) to remove any germs and prevent bacteria.
Step 9. Your machine is plugged back into the power supply and you’re ready to use your machine for fresh, clean, filtered water.

MORE INFORMATION

OUR STRICT HYGIENE & SAFETY RULES
We ensure that all our equipment and tools are always maintained to a high standard. When these items show any signs of wear, they are immediately replaced. If the cooler is left unattended at any time during the sanitisation process, a sign will be attached to the cooler advising that the cooler should not be used. Cooler parts will never be placed on the floor during cleaning.

HYGIENE ADVICE FOR IN-BETWEEN SANITISATION VISITS
It is always important to regularly clean shared surfaces such as door handles, worktops, buttons and phones. Frequently cleaning these high-contact surfaces can help to control the spread of infection and viruses. The office water cooler is no exception and we advise that you frequently wipe the external surfaces of your water cooler with an alcohol-based antibacterial wipe or cleaning product of your choice. Drip trays should be kept clean as this is the perfect place for bacteria to build up if left untouched. This will protect users from bacteria and viruses and keep your water cooler clean in-between sanitisation visits which are every 3 months.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
We provide discounts for customers with multiple water coolers and can provide similar packages for customers with drinking water fountains. Our sanitisation services are also available to clients who have inherited a water cooler. Sanitisation contracts are subject to cancellation in the event of willful abuse and are offered based on the age and state of the water cooler.
