Water Coolers Delivery Gets Greener
Water coolers are going to be delivered slightly differently from the 1st of August 2009 The Water Delivery Company’s two new vans looking a little changed from the usual livery the existing fleet sport! That’s because the company has taken the initiative of teaming up with Streetvan in an effort to go greener and go leaner.
Despite the recession, business has been rapidly expanding for The Water Delivery Company – so much so that with the increased pressures of the summer trade we were very aware that we needed two new vehicles to service the growing customer base. The existing fleet is a combination of leased vehicles and vehicles that are owned outright by the company – but having used Streetcar to bail us out so often in the past when we urgently needed a short term loan of a van, we were very aware of the high standard of the vans, as well as the excellent hire rates available – not to mention the flexibility. So when Operation Manager Rob Innes suggested expanding our usage of the Streetvan even further as a real alternative to purchasing new vans, it was something we were very interested in exploring.
A meeting with Suyin Du Bois from Streetvan soon showed that in terms of monthly costings, we could acquire the vans within almost the same budget as a van we would purchase or lease – but what really appealed to the Directors of The Water Delivery Company was the enormous advantages of the fact that Streetvan take care of so much in terms of vehicle maintenance, insurance, tax, petrol and congestion charge – so the savings in terms of administrative hours is significant too. From the 1st of August 2009 The Water Delivery Company’s two new vans are going to look a little different from the usual livery they existing fleet sport! That’s because the company has taken the initiative of teaming up with Streetvan in an effort to go greener and go leaner.
Mike Mayos, one of the company owners, said ‘We are very excited about this vehicle trial. In the past we have shown our commitment to ‘going green’ by purchasing LPG conversion vehicles – at a premium price but in the knowledge that we were doing our bit to reduce emissions and pollutants in and around London. But this seems to be one step further – by using Streetvan we are effectively taking two additional vehicles off the roads. Most Streetvan users need the vehicle in the evenings and weekends – so by using the van during the day mid-week we are optimising the efficiency of the van as well as supporting a very worthy organisation that are really providing a greener alternative for London’s vehicle needs. Streetvan are offering us a really exciting way forward!’
Suyin Du Bois, speaking on behalf of Streetvan said ‘ This is our first foray into providing fleet vehicles for companies like The Water Delivery Company and so we’re keen to see just how well we can look after them – but all the signs are good, given our history of working together, and so we’re looking forward to rolling this out as a real alternative for other companies!’
