Tips for Conserving Water (part1)

The Water Delivery Company wants to share some useful tips on how people can conserve water.

Turn off your running water while you brush your teeth, wash your hands, or when you are washing dishes. You can fill a cup of water to rinse your teeth instead of taking sips from the running faucet or fill the sink with water and use it to soak all the dishes.
If you are using a washing machine, turn it on only when it is really full. If you use the machine just for a couple of plates – you are wasting a lot of water and energy, not to mention more chemicals for the washing machine detergents.
Try to take showers that are shorter. We all enjoy a long shower, but this means a lot more wasted water. Keep in mind some people around the world do not even have water to drink.
Put a water colouring in the tank of your toilet. If you see that coloured water is running down – this means you have a leakage and you have to take measures to stop wasting that water.
Make sure to tightly turn off all facets. You may think that it is just a few drops of water, but in reality it is a lot more, if you leave them dripping for hours.
Buy a water efficient toilet.

For many, the winter season means a break from the garden, away from watering the plants, flowers, and maybe the occasional fruit tree that can withstand the extremes of the British weather. For others, however, colder climes mean that growing, planting and tending still continue, as allotment owners across the UK brave the elements, all in the name of cultivating fresh veg. Here at The Water Delivery Company HQ, we seriously commend anyone with this determination and commitment, which is why we were delighted when one gentleman popped in and asked if we had any cracked/damaged water bottles he may be able to use to get his carrots nice and humid (or maybe it was the cucumbers? We forget) on his plot of land. Of course, we said yes, as only the non-damaged bottles are useful in the future for water containing, and we can’t wait to sample some of the goodies that will grow with our help (sort of).

Make an online order for your office water cooler

There are a number of ways in which you can order our delicious spring water for your office water cooler, and we’ve made it even easier and more convenient for you to do this. You can either set up an email reminder system with us, so that two working days prior to your delivery day (this will be assigned to you when you set up a contract with us) we’ll pop you an email which you can reply to at your leisure to let us know if you’d like a delivery. If you’d rather wait until your stocks are maybe a little lower, you can fill in our “make an order” form onto our website, at which point your request will be sent straight through to one of our team, who’ll confirm by email when we’ll be delivering to you. Easy as pie. One of our lovely engineers will come by and take the bottles directly to your water cooler, so you literally don’t need to lift a finger. Except to sign the delivery note. But it will be brought straight to you, so no travelling is required.

Princes Gate and the Big Lunch

The Big Lunch, in association with the Eden Project, is a nationwide event that is publicised every year throughout Britain, held on one day in July. The main ethos of the event is to encourage people to open their doors, hearts and minds to those who live nearby, to give those who may be shy an opportunity to meet others, and to stoke up community spirit; who knows, following an event like this, there may be movements to improve a neighbourhood and work for a better community life.

The Water Delivery Company get involved with CHASE

Here at The Water Delivery Company, we’re always interested in getting involved in community events and local fundraising drives, particularly when they’re for a great cause.

We recently received a letter from CHASE, a charity that provides invaluable hospice care for children and young teenagers, and who are now preparing for a merge with The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, in order to raise the singular organisation’s profile and to increase awareness and therefore vital funds needed for their great work to continue. With many a plan getting set in motion, ‘friends groups’ are being established all over London; made up of volunteers, the role of these groups will be to raise awareness and funds through activities of the group’s choice.

The Water Delivery Company team will be heading to the introductory meeting hosted by Shooting Star and CHASE, being held in Wimbledon at the beginning of April, to see how we might be able to play our small part in helping sick children have a more comfortable life.

Our favourite “add water” drinks: Whittard tea

As we sadly come to the end of our much celebrated “add water” blog, we end on a high, with a The Water Delivery Company favourite, which is delicious at any time of year, and can be enjoyed at any temperature. Our favourite “add water” drinks: Hot chocolate

Following last week’s blog celebrating a wonderful tea, this week we turn to an old classic. It warms the heart and the tummy, is perfect after a cold day outside or to snuggle with in front of the fire. You can even put marshmallows in it. Yes, that’s right Ladies and Gents, we present….the hot chocolate.
Of course there has been much controversy throughout the ages regarding the “milk vs. water” issue that arises when one comes to make a hot chocolate. Some prefer the creamy taste of milk in their hot beverage, some may argue to enhance the sensation of drinking pure melted chocolate, or maybe to sweeten the taste of real coco, if that’s how you roll. Others are happy with boiling water and drinking chocolate, instead piling more power into the mug for the full chocolatey flavour.

As we’re sure you know by now, we at The Water Delivery Company just love our water, water coolers, water cups….but most of all, we love the things that we can use our water for, that is, delicious “add water” drinks which are good for the palate and the soul. In celebration of this, we thought we’d being another series of blogs, sharing these with you, our loyal reader, in the hope that we might be able to bring something of what we’ve found to be wonderful into your life.
First up, it’s Love Tea, made by a wonderful company, “Today was Fun”. London has always been a hip place to be; buzzing nightlife, fantastic support of the creative and performing arts, wonderful parks to hand out with your trendy chums and just, you know, live the life. With all this, a new craze has taken the city be storm, changing the dining-out experience in a way that we might never have thought possible; not only is it possible to get a meal cooked for you by a complete stranger, but you have the chance to nose around their digs.
The “Supper Club” idea has spread like wildfire, with Londoners all over the city opening their front doors wide, sometimes as often as four or five times a week, to people who’ve googled them and fancied the look of their pad, and treat them to a full three course meal- all for a suggested donation which is usually very reasonable. Of course, we at The Water Delivery Company like to think of ourselves as culinary masters, so may well be starting our own club.
