Let your pets into the fun of a water cooler

December 4th, 2009

kittens drinkingImagine this: you have yourself a lovely water cooler installed in your home, efficiently and easily by The Water Delivery Company. It provides wonderful, clean spring water for you, your family, and your guests whenever you desire it. One day, whilst taking a drink, you notice little Rover/Fluffles gazing longingly at you, at the water you’re drinking. Why not let them have a sip too?
The magnificent dolphin pump is a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution; a simple plastic contraption, it attaches easily onto the 19 or 12 litre bottles of water, and pumps the water from the bottle’s upright position, when pressed down. An easy way to dispense quality drinking water for your pet, we have even heard examples of some being trained to do the hard work for themselves. If this doesn’t appeal, even simpler to use is the pet water dispenser, which regulates a steady flow of water into the pet bowl at regular intervals, and takes your mind off even having to even fill it up. If you’re off on holiday for a weekend, you can rest assured that your precious kitty/doggy will be well watered whilst you’re not there to attend to their every need. It is the ultimate pet luxury for the pampered pooch and the cared-for kitty, and with Christmas just around the corner, why not treat them to something as a thank you for being such great companions throughout the year?

Save a Cup Scheme

May 8th, 2009

save-a-cup-logoThe Save a Cup Scheme as established by the larger players within the vending, food service and plastics industries as an independent service that provides a collection service for the millions of hard-wall polystyrene cups used in the UK every week. It is something that The Water Delivery Company strongly support customers in using – and something we can assist customers in arranging.

Taken from their website, Save-a-cup state that “The scheme is administered by the Save a Cup Recycling Company. With more than a billion cups collected so far for recycling, the company’s objective is to increase the number of cups collected in line with Government targets for recycling packaging waste.”

The Water Delivery Company supply a wide range of plastic drinking cups, paper cups and water cones for customers across London who use them alongside their bottled water coolers. Unfortunately for business in London there are very rarely options which enable businesses to recycle through their normal waste collection channels – and therefore Save-A-Cup provides an important service.

Save-a-cup also provide a range of suitable bins and accessories which help customers to ensure that the cups are stored in suitable places for cleaning or facilities staff to centralise collection of cones and cups in preparation for collection by Save-A-Cup on a monthly basis.

Customers need to establish a trading relationship with Save-A-Cup directly and set up the collection framework – and The Water Delivery Company will assist where possible in arranging this.

The Shelf life of Bottled Spring Water

March 30th, 2009

water-cooler-bottle-19-litre1The Water Delivery Company deliver spring water to customers in 19 litre and 12 litre bottles which are fully compatible with the water coolers we rent and sell to customers across London and the UK.

We are often asked questions about the shelf life of our water and this blog should answer questions regarding the providence of our water – and give customers advice on how it should be stored.

Our Spring Water is extracted by our professional water bottler  - Fonthill . Fonthill is a high quality, pure English spring water from a historic protected source deep in the hills surrounding the 7,000-acre Fonthill Bishop Estate in Wiltshire. The water is naturally filtered through limestone rock before emerging from modern boreholes close to the historic Penning and Berwick wells. It has a light, refreshing taste and a balanced mineral composition.

The water is bottled the same day it is extracted from the aquifer. It is then left at the bottling plant for 48 hours while the water is tested and checked internally and at an external laboratory. The water is then transported to London by an articulated lorry which holds around 1200 19 litre bottles – we have a delivery like this every two days.

We deliver this water to customers within two days of delivery – thereby guaranteeing that any water delivered to our customers has been extracted from the ground within the last five days.

What is a suitable shelf life for a water cooler bottle?

1. For correctly stored unopened bottles the shelf life can be any time between six months and a year. Although if you are keeping water for this long it may be that you don’t need to use a water cooler in your office or home.

2. Opened bottles put on a regularly sanitised water cooler (with a bayonet system, sealed reservoir, air filter) last up to three weeks.

3. Opened bottles not on a water cooler have a shelf-life of  just three days.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us on 0845 006 3309 or email contact@thewaterdeliverycompany.com.

Storage of Bottled Water for Water Coolers

January 30th, 2009

The Water Delivery Company deliver customers Spring Water in 19 litre and 12 litre reusable bottles – this water is then stored and consumed by customers within a short timescale – typically within two weeks but this can be up to three months. Therefore we think it is important that customers should have full details on the optimal storage for the bottles and pitfalls to avoid.

water-cooler-bottle-hoodDo not store water in sunlight – Storage of water for more than a few days in sunlight can result in the appearance of greening caused by the growth of harmless algae. Therefore please avoid sunlight. This is also a consideration for the bottled on top of the water cooler – and if this is in an area of sunlight then please enquire about one of our water cooler plastic bottle hoods.

Alternatively customer could consider a Summit Water Cooler which comes with a hood which is styled to fit with the water coolers image.

Be careful about where you store your water cooler bottles

1 Water should not be stored in newly decorated rooms.

2 Diesel vehicles should not be used where bottled of water are stored.

3 Water should not be stored near odorous cleaning chemicals or other odorous substances

4 Water Cooler water bottles should never be stored next to heating boilers and fuel tanks.

5 Customers should not use of pesticide sprays and insect proofers within 10 metres of  stored water.

Ensure the water is stored at the correct temperature - Prolonged storage of water at high temperatures can cause a change in the bacterial content of the water. At lower temperatures these bacteria are kept under control by beneficial organisms.
