If you have recently purchased one of the Bottled Water Coolers on the market then you may be thinking about where to store that extra bottle of water. Firstly, now the basics to storing water that is bottled. It is important that it isn’t in a place that is too hot or too cold. If the water is stored outside in the winter, it will freeze which will cause it to expand and possibly cause the plastic bottle to crack. Another thing to keep in mind is to keep the water away from direct sunlight. So storing it in a dark cool spot is ideal.

A popular spot where you can store you water is the garage. All you need is a small corner of the garage where you can place the bottle. It will be out of the way yet easily accessible. Another great spot is if you have a pantry, in every pantry there is that rarely used spot that collects dust, place the bottle there, it will be out of the way and near the cooler.

Bottled Water Coolers are ideal for the home and with a regular water delivery you should not have to worry about storing the bottles. Though if you want to think ahead and have a bottle at hand in case the water runs out, know how to store it.

The summer is almost here and it is time you looked into what types of water coolers there are on the market. You may not realize it now, but you will once the summer heat hits. One of these days, you are going to be taking a walk outside and the only think you will be dreaming of will be the moment you go back home, to your cold apartment and have some water. Yes, the summer heat can really run a number on you. Whenever you are outside in a very warm environment, your body needs more hydration. Have you ever heard of the term heat exhaustion or heat stroke? These are two very serious conditions. The first one occurs when you spend too much time in a hot environment and you get dehydrated, because of sweating. Your temperature may reach 40°C, but not more. However, when your inside body temperature reaches above 40°C due to overheating, then it gets dangerous. This might be a life threatening condition and brain damage may occur, as well as damage to other organs in your body. If you spend some time outdoors on a really hot day and you start sweating profusely, feeling dizzy and nauseous – you might have a heat exhaustion. It is very important to stay hydrated while out. However, you do need to keep your body hydrated within your home as well.

Summer is approaching – it is time you choose the best water coolers for your home.

Ahead of World Water Day on22 March, WaterAid has revealed 10 comparisons between the time the UK population spends on everyday activities and the time people in the world’s poorest countries spend fetching water.

We spend 47 minutes and 48seconds commuting (TUC). It may feel like 47 minutes too many, but it’s still less than a third of the time it takes millions of women to make one journey to collect water to meet their families’ needs.

Across Africa, the average amount of time spent fetching water is three hours a day, with some people spending up to 10 hours a day collecting water. A total of 40bn working hours every year are lost to water collection. More often than not, the water collected is dirty, resulting in life-threatening diseases such as diarrhoea or cholera.

In the UK, people spend an average of five hours 48 minutes on social networking sites per week (comScore). In Sub-Saharan Africa, that’s two trips to collect water.

The average adult exercises just 50 minutes a week (Weight Watchers), which is less than a third of one trip to collect 20kg of water.

A UK bride-to-be spends an average of 250 hours preparing for a wedding. That’s equivalent to 83 journeys to collect water. Planning the royal wedding will undoubtedly take longer!

Mr Average in Britain spends six hours and 12 minutes a week watching, talking about and keeping up to date on football (BT Vision). After that amount of time, a woman in the developing world would be making her third trip in one day to collect water.

We spend about six hours a week drinking tea and coffee (LearnDirect). That’s two trips to collect water, with no coffee break.

It takes a mighty 3,600 study hours to complete an Open University Honours degree. That’s little more than three years spent fetching water – time better spent on education.

It takes on average 47 hours of driving lessons to pass a driving test in the UK (DirectGov). In the same amount of time, millions in Africa will have made just 15trips to collect water, and they won’t be making those journeys by car.

The average man will spend five hours a week staring at different women (Kodak Lens Vision Centres). In one week, the average woman in a developing country would have spent 21 hours collecting water.

“We might complain about the amount of time we spend travelling to work, but our daily commutes can’t compare with the hours women in the developing world spend walking to fetch water – a basic necessity we take for granted,” said Girish Menon, director for International Programmes at WaterAid.

Some of those celebrated in this musical comedy include the completely incomprehensible IT guy (even though you’ll always pretend you understand), and the arrogant-yet-irresistible token ‘cute guy’. The show was staged at the Englert Theatre on the 12th September, and we want to find someone who was there, to share the magic with those of us stuck in Blighty. If you were able to catch this once-in-a-lifetime performance, do let us know what you thought. Or, if you’d like any more information on our office water cooler services and spring water deliveries, please do get in touch and one of our team will be on hand to help you out.

The three month trial period for the scheme, during which 350 taxis which travel to and from the international airport on a regular basis will be fitted with mini bottled water coolers in the back seats, has been designed to test whether this is a feasible way to generate extra revenue for taxi operators on a full-time basis. The passenger travelling in the vehicle will be given the option of purchasing a refreshing drink, and the cost of the water will be added to their meter bill at the end of the journey.

If you’ve had the fortune to experience this new idea for yourself, or have any comments on whether you think the scheme will take off, please do get in touch and share your thoughts with us. But what if your desk could be the hub of all this activity? What if people from every floor, and even Doris from accounting who never usually leaves her desk, came flooding to your work station, to marvel at and pay their respects to your mini animal- shaped office water cooler? These irresistible little designs are perfect for those with a sense of humour, and those who enjoy seeing others envy at their good taste and effortless style. With a cute creature to suit all, from monkeys and ducks, to pigs and a rather strange, non-descript blue thing, there is really nothing like having your RDA of water dispensed from a colourful item such as this.

Whilst we wait to jump on the bandwagon with this venture, why not get in touch, and see how The Water Delivery Company can help fulfil all of your other office water cooler and spring water delivery needs, wherever you are in the Capital. We look forward to hearing from you!

So can you imagine our delight when we discovered Tom Boyd, who recently came in and purchased some of our old bottles, used them to create a new ‘home’/shack as part of a competition run by the Shangri-La area at Glastonbury Festival, encouraging entrants to ‘Build a Palace from Pallets’, which is exactly what our chum did. The aim of the competition was to encourage people to think about using inventive means and resources to build shelters, while getting the viewers to think about what they’re actually seeing. In the case of our bottles, the idea of the piece is to highlight the importance of using materials in a way that might not be their original purpose for being created, and also to encourage to think about water shortage throughout the world, as well as preserving other precious resources. If you’re heading to Glastonbury this year, be sure to keep an eye out for this, and the other inventive constructions!

If you’ve had an idea for a special construction using bottles from The Water Delivery Company, or indeed any of our other products, please do get in touch, as we always love to hear about environmentally friendly projects going on.
“In the light of coolers becoming cheaper to buy, how can the rental business retain an ‘added value’ service and what factors must rentals companies focus on to maintain a foothold in the cooler market?”

The water cooler business in the UK is definitely showing signs of maturity. Customers have options between bottleless and bottled water coolers, drinking water fountains are growing in popularity and companies are increasingly having to deal with customers who are significantly more educated regarding pricing and service options by comparing water cooler companies online.

UK water cooler companies that simply look to protect their rental income streams will struggle and ultimately fail in the future. The Water Cooler industry needs to adapt to a changing environment and look to build long term service relationships, with both purchase and rental customers, that ensure long term protected revenue streams.

It must also be remembered that customers don’t purchase water coolers simply because they are cheaper to buy. Many choose to use capital budgets for equipment such as water coolers and therefore rental options are simply not applicable. This is especially true of the customers who use our specialist website – www.drinkingwaterfountains.co.uk. Drinking Water Fountains are often installed in buildings during a kit out and therefore fall in capital budgets. So which ever way you look at it rental water cooler businesses need to provide purchase options for customers, and given the way there are increasing options online for purchasing these rental companies need to provide competitive pricing.

When I first came into the industry seven years ago rental companies would often only be offering limited purchase options and these were priced at extreme markups – and I can almost guarantee that these were offered to persuade people that rental was the cheaper option. With transparency of pricing online this simply does not stack up. The water cooler industry must adapt itself to normal retail margins as there will be significant amount of “box shops” who will compete at these levels. More importantly they will also survive as businesses with these margins.

If water cooler companies look to building long term service relationships with both rental and purchase customers they are also able to build a business with long term revenue streams. As long as margins are right we can therefore build businesses with the trained engineers and well paid staff can support the customers’ water cooler experience. So adapt to the perceived “threat” of water coolers for sale, and then structure the pricing and service options within your business carefully – there will always be certain products with higher margins than others.

For these reasons and many, many more the water cooler industry needs to nurture innovation and weave the ability to adapt into the very fabric of its being. There are water cooler companies in the UK which have already embraced this.
